Felice Alessio Bava

Alessio is the Princinpal Investigator of the group. He graduated in Medical Biotechnology from the Universities of Rome "La Sapienza" and "Tor Vergata" (Italy). For his pre-doctoral and early post-doctoral studies, he worked in the laboratory of Dr. Raul Mendez at the Center for Genomic Regulation and Institute for Research in Biomedicine in Barcelona, Spain. In collaboration with the group of Dr. Juan Valcarcel, he studied mechanisms of pre-mRNA processing and mRNA translation.

He then moved to California, where he joined Prof. Garry Nolan lab at Stanford University for his post-doctoral training. While there, Alessio increased the resolution of his studies to a single cell level by mass-cytometry, multiplexed imaging and sequencing. He aims at better understanding the molecular cross-talk between cancer and immune cells.
Alessio enjoys spending his free time with family and friends, he loves camping in the wildness, hiking, or just relaxing with good food and wine. Depending on the context, he loves to listen to classical music, techno music and, among the classics, Pink Floyd.
